April Fool’s Day
April Fool’s is celebrated on the 1st of April. This tradition is one that has been celebrated for a very long time. This is the day to play light hearted jokes or making someone believe something outrageous. The origins of this celebration are complicated and there are many ideas as to where it originated from and why we celebrate it on the 1st of April. The first has to do with the old Julian calendar celebrating new years on April first up until 1582 when it was shifted to January 1st by the Gregorian calendar. Due to the change people did not think that January 1st was new years so the people who celebrated new year in April were fools. Another theory is that during the reign of Constantine a few of the jesters and fools said they can do a better job at being emperor. The king amused allowed Kugel to be the king for a day. For that time period fool’s were considered very wise people. Now the pros of this celebration are that this is a day to mess around and have fun. One of the cons to this day is that some people might take the prank they pull of too seriously and could get in real trouble.
