What this means to me  is that if you are smart you will be rude and hated because of your low character. If you turn it around you will have the same result if you are nice have manner and don't lie but you aren't very smart then you won't get anywhere you might flunk and fail your classes

 You see character alone is nothing it cannot sustain itself with the help of intallect and the same goes for intelligence it will not get very far without the help of a high character. 

Both are very crucial to gaining both success and true education
